ENERGY REQUIREMENT CALCULATIONS
This model was produced for the purpose of being able to carry out a cost analysis and calculate the energy that is necessary to maintain the property in the form of heating, ventilation, lighting and hot water (this excludes personal consumption).
The figures are modelled around a 2-bedroom detached house with a footprint of 9.3m x 5.3m offering approximately 77m² of habitable space and having only mains-connected electricity and water supply (no gas).

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) for internal and external structural walls and roof.

Pre-constructed timber framed walls with fitted conduit.

Trus-Joist silent floor system.

Floor decking (10mm-15mm OSB).

PFA (pulverised fuel ash) blockwork for all external non-load bearing walls.

Roof covering - replica tiles/slates are manufactured from recycled PVC (available in large sections).

Timber-framed, triple-glazed, non-vented windows and doors including all sills and handles).

Electric underfloor heating system with all components (heating elements, controllers, sensors and regulators).

Ventilation with heat recovery incorporating summer by-pass, DC motors, pollen filters and a 1kW integral heater.

Complete photovoltaic array with all components to connect (regulator, export meter, invertor). *1

Evacuated tube solar-thermal collector with all components to connect to water cylinder (circulating pump, controller, sensors, thermostat, pressure vessel, relief valve and gauge). *2

250-litre thermal storage water cylinder with 3kW integral immersion.

1200 litre rainwater management system with all accessories and components to connect (integral leaf filter, overflow, automatic switch-over control unit, 54-litre header tank with ball valve and insulation jacket).

1000W wind turbine with all components to connect (invertor, regulator, batteries, pole and fittings). "2

Whole-house water filter, complete with filter salts.

Compact bagless central vacuum, complete with all user accessories, ducting, sockets and wall vent.
